Although we have been in Rawdon since the summer of 2005, our
story begins two and a half years earlier when we decided we were
going to move out to the countryside. We lived in Montréal at the
time and we dreamed of a quieter, more meaningful life without all
the stress. A place surrounded by trees in the middle of nature
and it's numerous inhabitants.
We concentrated our search during a period of 30 months in the
Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, Sainte-Adèle, Saint-Hypollite, Saint-
Adolphe-d'Howard area without any luck. We always found reason's
not to buy; too expensive, too big, no lake, not enough land, or it
didn't look like a chalet enough, etc, etc.
Then one day, our real-estate agent made us look outside of our
search area...
The first visit outside of our targeted area was the one. We made an
offer, sold our home and we came to live in Rawdon. The site is
remarkable... The mountains, the lake, the beach, the Cascades and
the Dorwin waterfalls to name a few attractions are accessible within
minutes.
All was perfect...until our first spring. Major defect with the roof.
Massive amounts of ice all around the house with the inpending
water infiltration as a result, from the spring thaw. The roof in it's
entirety had to be completely redone.
Enter Mr. Michel Deslandes from Deslandes Construction to the
rescue. It was while he was demolishing and removing the roof
that I approched Mr. Deslandes with plan B... which came about
from our misfortune. I asked him if he could build us a second floor
as well as a new roof. He told me anything was possible if we could
dream it.
This is how our dream became reality.
Two private rooms, a bathroom, a rest room as well as a t.v. viewing
room later, our B & B was born. I want to thank Mr. Michel Deslandes
for the remarkable work he accomplished turning our simple country
home into a Bed & Breakfast classified; ''trois soleils'' by Québec
Tourism.
